Article: Maranta (Prayer Plant)

Maranta (Prayer Plant)
Marantas are known for their striking, patterned foliage and dynamic nature, with leaves that lay flat during the day, and fold like praying hands at night.
Pet Toxicity
Marantas are a great, pet safe house plant option!
Light
Marantas thrive in bright, indirect light. Finding the right spot is key to helping these plants maintain their beautiful foliage. Too much direct light can cause brown spots and a faded, washed out look to the leaves, while not enough light can case them to lose their color and vibrancy.
Water Requirements
These plants like a consistently moist, but not soggy, soil. Water when the top of the soil is just dry. They thrive best with lots of humidity, so you may want to mist occasionally or place them in a pebble tray or near a humidifier.
Watch out for…
Marantas can be sensitive to chemicals in tap water, so if troubleshooting for an unhappy plant, try watering with distilled water.
Plant Friends
Care needs are similar to calathea, stromanthe and syngonium plants.
