Peperomia 'Frost'

Peperomia 'Frost'

Peperomia caperata ‘Frost’ is a compact, easy-care tropical houseplant admired for its shimmering silver-green foliage. The deeply textured, heart-shaped leaves have pronounced ridges and a frosted metallic sheen that reflects light beautifully, giving the plant a cool, elegant appearance.

Native to tropical regions of South America, this variety stays small and tidy, making it ideal for desks, shelves, windowsills, or mixed plant displays.

Typically reaching about 6–8 inches in height, this Peperomia adds subtle texture and color without taking up much space, making it perfect for small indoor areas or beginners building a plant collection.

Light
Prefers bright to moderate indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but growth may slow and the foliage color may become less vibrant. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade or scorch the delicate leaves.

Water
Allow the top portion of the soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. Typically watering every 7–10 days works well depending on temperature, humidity, and light levels.
Use a well-draining potting mix and ensure the container has drainage holes, as Peperomia plants are sensitive to overly wet soil.

Pet Safe
Peperomia species are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making them a pet-friendly option for homes with curious animals.

Watch out for…
Overwatering is the most common issue and can lead to root rot or soft stems. Wrinkling or drooping leaves may indicate the plant needs water, while yellowing leaves can signal excess moisture.
Keep an eye out for common indoor pests such as fungus gnats, spider mites, or mealybugs, though this plant is typically quite resilient.

Similar care to…
Shares similar care requirements with other Peperomia varieties and small tropical houseplants. It thrives in conditions that include moderate to bright indirect light, light watering with good drainage, and average household humidity.
