Philodendron
Easy going Philodendrons come in a huge variety of species, each offering unique leaf shapes and coloring, making them a popular choice for both beginner and experienced plant parents.
Pet Toxicity
Philodendrons are not pet safe.
Light
Philodendrons prefer bright, indirect light but many varieties can tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
Water Requirements
Philodendrons should be watered when the top inch of soil feels dry, typically every 1-2 weeks. Be sure to water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain completely. These plants thrive in higher humidity, so placing them in a humid environment, giving them an occasional mist, or using a humidity tray can help them grow into their best selves.
Watch our for...
Protect these tropical plants from cold drafts or air conditioning vents! Many varieties have a climbing growth habit, and will need to be supported by a moss pole or other plant stake. These climbing varieties may also grow long aeriel roots; if so, tuck them back in to the soil or around the supporting pole/cane.
Plant Buddies
Many plants thrive on indirect light and moderate watering like the philodendron, including pothos, calathea, and dracaena.
