Pothos 'Cebu Blue'
Pothos ‘Cebu Blue’ (Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Cebu Blue’) is a stunning silvery-blue trailing plant prized for its soft metallic sheen and elongated, tapered leaves.
Native to Cebu Island in the Philippines, this variety becomes even more impressive as it matures, developing split, pinnate foliage reminiscent of Monstera when given something to climb.
While it looks beautiful cascading from a hanging basket, it truly reaches its full potential when trained up a moss pole, totem, or lattice.
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its signature silvery-blue tone and encourage mature leaf development. It can tolerate medium light, but growth may slow and leaves may remain smaller and unsplit. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.
Water
Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings, typically every 7–10 days depending on your environment.
This plant prefers a consistent watering routine but does not like soggy soil. Ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot. Yellowing leaves can indicate overwatering, while curling or drooping may signal underwatering.
Pet Safe
No, Pothos ‘Cebu Blue’ is toxic to cats, dogs, and humans if ingested. Like other pothos varieties, it contains calcium oxalate crystals that can cause irritation and digestive upset. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
Watch out for…
Without vertical support, the plant will remain in its juvenile leaf form. Provide a climbing structure if you want to encourage larger, fenestrated foliage.
Leggy growth can occur in low light. Monitor for common pests like spider mites and mealybugs, especially in dry indoor conditions.
Similar care to…
Shares care habits with other pothos varieties like ‘Neon’ and ‘Global Green.’ Also similar in climbing preferences and light needs to plants such as Monstera and Rhaphidophora.
