Tradescantia

Tradescantia

Tradescantia plants are known for their vibrant foliage and fast-growing, trailing nature, making them perfect for adding lush color to shelves or hanging planters. With their eye-catching striped or solid leaves in shades of green, purple, silver, and pink, they bring color and life to any space and are great for beginner plant lovers!

Pet Safe

Unfortunately these plants are considered toxic and should be kept out of reach from pets and children.

Light

Tradescantia thrive in bright, indirect light, though they can tolerate lower light conditions. Keep them out of direct sunlight as this can scorch their leaves.

Water Requirements

These plants like a consistently moist soil, allow the top inch of soil to dry before watering again. They also love high humidity so consider using a humidifier, pebble tray or mister to keep your Tradescantia happy.

Watch out for…

If you begin to see yellow or brown leaves or soggy soil, you may be over watering. If you see drooping, crispy leaves or shriveled stems you may be under watering. They are also prone to aphids and spider mites so keep an eye out for these little critters!

Similar Care to…

These plants have similar care characteristics to Pothos and Spider Plants.
