Calathea

Calathea

Calathea are known for their stunning leaves and beautiful coloring, with many varieties that each offer a different foliage patten. They are thought of as a more difficult plant to care for, but have no fear, once you know the basics and find the right spot in your home your new baby can thrive.

Pet Safe

Calathea are generally considered pet safe.

Light

Bright, indirect light or partial shade. Keep out of direct sun.

Water Requirements

Water thoroughly when the top inch of the soil is dry, typically around once a week. Calathea like to remain slightly moist, but avoid overwatering and do not allow them to sit in standing water, as they are susceptible to root rot.  They love humidity, so a nice mist every once in a while or placement in a humid room, such as a bathroom, will help keep them happy!

Watch our for...

Drafts! Calathea like to stay warm, and don't thrive in fluctuating temperatures. Keep away from cold windows and doors in the winter.
