Fern

Fern

Ferns are loved for their vibrant, feathery foliage and woodsy charm, with many varieties offering different leaf shapes and sizes. While they prefer a bit more humidity and indirect light, they’re relatively easy to care for once you know their needs. With their lush greenery, ferns will elevate any indoor space!

Pet Toxicity

Most true ferns are considered pet safe, however some plants that are commonly referred to as ferns, like the asparagus fern, are toxic to animals. Be sure to look up your specific variety of fern to make sure it is safe for your furry loved one!

Light

Ferns do best in bright, indirect light. Be sure to keep them away from direct sunlight, as it can burn their delicate leaves. Remember, their natural environment is the forest floor, under the shade of the tree canopy above!

Water Requirements

Ferns love moist, but not soggy, soil and humid environments. Misting them regularly or using a humidifier or humidity tray will help them thrive. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil is dry.

Watch out for…

Keep them away from cold or hot drafts. If any leaves turn crispy or brown, prune them away, as they won't bounce back and will take energy away from healthier growth!
