Peperomia 'Ruby Cascade'

Peperomia 'Ruby Cascade'

Peperomia ‘Ruby Cascade’ is a charming trailing peperomia prized for its small, glossy foliage and cascading growth habit. The round, button-shaped leaves are deep green on top with striking ruby-red undersides that add a subtle pop of color, especially when the vines drape over the edge of a pot or hanging basket.

Native to tropical regions of Central and South America, this easy-going houseplant adapts well to indoor conditions and is especially popular for shelves, plant stands, and hanging displays where its trailing vines can shine.

Light
Prefers bright, filtered or indirect light to maintain compact growth and vibrant leaf color. It can tolerate moderate light conditions, but growth may slow and the trailing vines may become more sparse. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water
Allow the top portion of the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Water thoroughly when the soil feels dry near the surface, typically every 7–10 days depending on indoor temperature and humidity.
Use a well-draining potting mix and a container with drainage holes to prevent excess moisture from sitting around the roots, as peperomias are sensitive to overwatering.

Pet Safe
Peperomia species are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs. Even so, it’s still best to keep houseplants out of reach of pets and children to prevent accidental damage to the plant.

Watch out for…
Overwatering is the most common issue with this plant and can lead to root rot. Make sure the soil drains well and avoid letting the plant sit in water.
In very dry indoor air, leaf edges may curl slightly or growth may slow. Occasionally check for common houseplant pests such as spider mites, mealybugs, and fungus gnats.

Similar care to…
Shares similar care requirements with many other peperomia varieties. If you have grown other trailing or semi-succulent houseplants that prefer bright, indirect light and moderate watering, this plant will thrive under similar conditions.
